The Trek Property is underlain by Upper Triassic Stuhini Group rocks, which have been intruded by Late Triassic to Early Jurassic monzonitic intrusions, Eocene granitic dikes, sills and stocks and Miocene basaltic and rhyolitic dikes.

The Silver Standard Zone was first trenched by Kennco in the 1960s and was rediscovered in 1990. Highly silicified, fractured and sheared black rock contains abundant pyrite and chalcopyrite in quartz veinlets and disseminations. It is described as porphyry-style disseminated chalcopyrite in diorite and monzonite. The four grab samples taken from the Silver Standard trenches yielded low gold values with up to 2.35 per cent copper. However, the copper mineralization was almost entirely oxidised to malachite.

In 1990, sample 484718 was a grab taken over 1 metre which assayed 0.11 gram per tonne gold, 4.4 grams per tonne silver and 0.4 per cent copper (Assessment Report 20956).

The Silver Standard zone was discovered in 1957 and staked in 1963. In 1990 the Silver Standard zone was rediscovered by Lorica Resources Ltd. Refer to North zone (104G 022) for details of the Trek property work history, of which the Silver Standard showing is part of.
